Erica RoselloAs children, we are taught to dream big by our teachers in school. Children are often asked to constantly pretend, imagine, create art, music and choose a specific career from a young age. This process helps us all to grow into our dreams. Unfortunately, some of us stopped dreaming big and allowed society to rule our desires.

A great example of this is when a young child dreams of being a police officer and a musician. Most teachers encourage children to believe their big dreams will come true if they work hard enough to achieve them. Some students find themselves visiting their teachers later in life to thank them for their guidance and to announce they have been enjoying a career as a police officer that sings at venues and events on their day off. This child who dreamt of becoming a police officer and musician grew into their big dreams.

Think back to when you were a child. What were your big dreams for your life? Did you have a specific talent such as being artistic or musically gifted? Or, did you have a unique skill set that came naturally to you?

Sometimes our natural gifts guide us to our dreams. There is a story of a young student in elementary school that always use to keep the interior of their desk extremely organized. This organization spilled over into other areas such as an organized backpack, room, and closet. Nobody would have ever guessed that this student would have grown up to have their own business organizing people’s closets. But, it’s true. This person is now an adult and hugely successful helping others organize their closets.

In addition, this person has grown into their bigger dreams of having their own business, hiring employees and working in a partnership with woodworkers and designers to create impressive and useful closet shelving.

The fact is if you have big dreams and put effort into achieving them, you will gradually grow into the dreams. Often times it takes hard work, planning, determination and the ability to never give up.

It’s important to dream big and go for your dreams! Almost every dream involves planning that will guide you on the path to achieving your dream. It’s essential to determine what your dreams are and then plan carefully to succeed. Start making a difference in your life today by getting started on your journey to grow into your big dreams.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
