John 16:33 – “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Erica RoselloThis verse says that we will face adversity multiple times in our lives, but when you have full reliance on Jesus, you do not have to fear because he will handle it for you. You do not have to go into battle alone or ever feel that you have to carry that burden, he will work it out for you.

When we learn to have full reliance on him and actually start experiencing the power of this in your life, your faith develops more and more until you have full dependence on him. Of course, this must consciously be worked on every single day but it becomes a joyous journey. We must remain obedient to His will for us and become fully dependent on Him. God does for us what we cannot do for ourselves & he gives us an even better life that we could have ever imagined.

Unfortunately, the world seems to be in chaos. The news reports horror every day that has caused people around the world to become stressed, scared and defensive. The most recent reports include devastating earthquakes, hurricanes, shootings and more. It is difficult to deal with this devastation on a daily basis. But, this is how our world is today.

We all need to learn to deal with the world in a healthy way. As a Christian, I feel that the best way is trust in the Lord. Jesus stayed strong through a variety of terrible situations in his life. As he experienced hardship he stayed strong, calm and at peace.

As Christians, we need to tap into Jesus’ strength and faith. We need to focus on how we can help and share peace with others, especially during this devastating time in history. It is us who can continue sharing the message and setting good examples for others to follow.

We can’t change people’s reactions, actions or opinions about the devastation in the world, but we can set a good example that will touch their hearts and encourage them to walk a similar path as us. It also gives us a chance to connect and share our own testimony and hardships that we have overcome in life, to fulfill our purpose in serving others.

So, if you have been glued to the television watching the endless loop of the current devastation in the world, take action by turning it off for a while. Instead, turn on some gospel music or your favorite Christian singer/band. Listen carefully to the words and music. Allow it to bring you peace. Sit down and relax with a cup of coffee and start reading your favorite scriptures that help comfort you, such as John 16:33. Then share your peace with others. Stay strong and follow the Lord. Remember you are not facing this battle alone.
