Erica RoselloDo you set a good example to others? You might not realize it but every action you take and every word you speak leaves others feeling a certain way. A great example of this is when you around someone who drains your energy. These are the people that cause you to feel depressed or sad for no reason.

It happens more often than you think. For example, you are the kind of person that chooses positivity. You wake up in the morning grateful to be alive. You get dressed go to work and then boom a co-worker ruins your mood. Sometimes it’s just the tone of the person’s voice and their energy level. If you are happy and you go into work saying, “good morning” in a cheerful voice. Then a low energy co-worker says, “good morning” in a sad low toned voice. It immediately strikes your mood and lowers your energy.

While it’s not realistic to think that everyone around you will be in a good mood 100% of the time, you can be the one to change the mood. You can do this by staying positive and upbeat even though the people around you are low-key. You need to work hard not to let your energy level meet theirs. If your co-worker says sadly “good morning”, you remain in your upbeat energetic mood and respond with good energy “good morning.”

You need to be the one that raises the bar and encourages others to positive. You want people to walk away from you feeling better than when they first met you. This can happen anywhere and at any time. You have the power to affect everyone you come into contact with even strangers.

An easy example of impacting others positively is when you meet strangers. Let’s say you are taking Uber to a specific destination. You can be in the car for 10 minutes or more than an hour depending on traffic. Instead of sitting in the car with your earphones in or typing away on your cell phone or iPad, strike up a conversation with the driver. Often times you will find yourself helping them overcome a stressful situation in their life, especially if they are having a bad day. When you step out of the car you want the driver to feel like they had the best ride yet!

Always strive to be the person you want to meet. Meaning, strive to be your best, be positive, help others and encourage others to live their best life.
